Tips/Hints/FAQs
Before you start
A few spoiler- free tips to help with your investigation:
Use different highlighter colours
Try using different colours for each clue. It makes it much easier to keep track of which records you've eliminated and why.
Mark things as you go
Highlight, cross out, circle, scribble-whatever works for you.
Dont read ahead
Work through the case in order and avoid reading future chapter pages until you reach them. Detective Carter may have left information throughout the files that wasn't intended to be discovered early.
And most importantly, there is no wrong way to investigate. Take your time, make a mess of pages and have fun solving the case
Common questions
Yes.... I know... :(
For the purposes of the Vehicle Files database, hatchbacks have 5 seats and sedans have 4. It has absolutely no effect on solving the case.
Nope! Everything you need to solve the case is either in the files or provided in the reference pages. No mechanical knowledge is required.
You can, but working through them in order and applying one clue at a time will make your investigation easier to keep track of. (and it's what Detective Carter recommends).

Maybe. Or Detective Carter's filing system is questionable. Some details in the Vehicle files database have been simplified or standardised for the purposes of the puzzle and won't necessarily match every real-world vehicle exactly. If you've found something you think could be an error, please contact me so I can investigate it :)
